School Education Gateway conference

The School Education Gateway, Europe's online platform for school education, was opened to the public in February 2015 and then added its Teacher Academy online courses in May 2016. In organising the official launch conference in October 2016, the European Commission reflects upon issues facing teachers and looks into the future to provide the best possible European platform on school education.

The launch conference will showcase the services offered on the platform and its latest developments and future directions, as well as highlight its benefits for Europe's school education stakeholders in the context of current challenges and policy and programme priorities.
The launch conference, which takes place in the afternoon of the 19th October, will be opened by Mr Tibor Navracsics, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and followed by two panel discussions. In the first panel discussion guest experts will explore the role the School Education Gateway can play in addressing challenges linked with diversity and inclusion in education.

The second panel will discuss the possibilities for supporting teachers in developing innovative solutions in the framework of continuing professional development, in particular the potential of online tools in supporting teaching staff.
The closing speech of the conference will be given by Mr Adam Tyson from the Directorate General for Education and Culture.

The conference is aimed at all school education stakeholders by and large on regional, national and European level. It is possible to follow the conference through Web streaming for which the link will be provided on the School Education Gateway.
