Students studying at Higher Education Institutions in Greece can, through the Erasmus+ programme, apply for a mobility period for studies or traineeship abroad, while total time abroad may not exceed 12 months per each study cycle (e.g. 12months during undergraduate studies, 12months during post-graduate studies, 12months during doctoral studies).

The same student can receive a grant for a mobility period of up to 12months for each study cycle, irrespective of the number and type of mobility periods. In case of mobility for studies, the student must be enrolled at least in the second year of studies. This condition does not apply for traineeships, though it is recommended that students undertake their traineeship abroad towards the end of their studies, achieving a higher added value in view of entering the labour market.

Correspondingly, students from higher education institutions abroad can carry out a mobility period to Greece through the Erasmus+ programme for studies and traineeship by submitting the relevant application at their institution provided it takes part in the Programme.

In the context of the Erasmus+ programme, recent graduates can also take part in traineeships abroad within one year of their graduation. To be eligible, students should submit their application during their final year of studies and complete their traineeship within 12months after graduating. (In particular with regard to the current academic year 2020, this period has been extended to 18months due to the impact of Covid-19 on Εrasmus+ mobility). The duration of mobility of recent graduates may not exceed the maximum limit of 12months within each cycle of study.Students interested in carrying out a traineeship following graduation at an enterprise or organisation in an Erasmus+ programme country or Partner Country should also contact the Erasmus office of their institution where they submit their application in their final year of studies before graduating.

Selection criteria for students are set out by their institutions and are linked to academic performance, foreign language competence, year of studies and any required courses, etc. The call for proposals is publicised on the website of the sending institution and can be annual, twice a year or open throughout the year, depending on the policy followed by each higher Education Institution.
