1st EPALE Workshop in Larissa on Sustainable Agriculture and Training

The first EPALE (Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe) workshop of the 2025–2026 programming period was successfully held on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Larissa .

The event featured opening addresses by:

  • Ms. Chrysi Laspidou, Vice-Rector for Innovation, Internationalization, Partnerships, and Digital Governance at the University of Thessaly,

  • Ms. Paraskevi Afentaki, Director of the European Programmes Department at IKY,

  • Mr. Vasilis Geroyiannis, Head of the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Thessaly.

A preliminary online meeting took place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during which the project team introduced participants to the themes and goals of the new programme. The focus of this programme is on upskilling and reskilling the agricultural workforce through training initiatives emphasizing sustainable agriculture. Additionally, EPALE Ambassador Ms. Viktoria Apostolou presented the EPALE electronic platform .

The in-person training workshop was hosted at the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Thessaly. Attendees familiarized themselves with the EPALE platform and learned about its benefits. The prospects of sustainable agriculture and the application procedures for the Erasmus+ programme were also presented. Workshop facilitators were EPALE Ambassadors Mr. Nikos Mallios and Ms. Ourania Pavli.

The participants showed particular interest during the second part of the workshop, which involved designing from scratch a new Erasmus+ project for Key Action 1 in the field of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and for Key Action 2 in Adult Education .

The workshop highlighted the need for synergies between educational institutions, farming communities, and local authorities, aiming to strengthen lifelong learning and green transition in the primary sector
