A special event for graduates of French universities was organized by the French Institute of Thessaloniki on Thursday, June 26, 2025, celebrating World Alumni Day – #AlumniDay.
The event aimed to strengthen the ties of alumni with France and the global French Alumni network. Guests were welcomed by the Consul General of France in Thessaloniki, Mr. Jean-Luc Lavaux, as well as by the Head of University and Scientific Cooperation of the Institute, Ms. Eléonore Sirabian.
In his address, Mr. Lavaux particularly praised the long-standing and fruitful cooperation between the French Embassy and the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.), which enables Greek students to pursue postgraduate studies in France and also supports research teams from both countries to collaborate within the framework of the Hubert Curien – Aristotle programme me.
At the event, I.K.Y. was represented by the Head of the Directorate of Scholarships, Dr. Irini Droutsa, who emphasized the significant role that scholarship programmes play in shaping a generation of scientists with an international outlook. She made special mention of the European Erasmus+ programme me, as well as to the Master 2 postgraduate scholarships, which are co-funded by France and Greece and allow young scientists to study at top French universities. Additionally, she highlighted the contribution of the Hubert Curien – Aristotle programme me to Greek-French scientific cooperation through high-level research projects.
Also attending the event was the President of the Greek Community of Paris and its surroundings, Ms. Seta Theodoridou, who highlighted the enduring contribution of the Greek diaspora to preserving and deepening Greek-French relations.
I.K.Y. consistently supports international collaborations and initiatives that promote the internationalization of Greek universities and the connection of the Greek academic community with global networks of knowledge and innovation.
