PRESS RELEASE
On July 4, 2025, at the Pyrgos City Hall, a public drawing of lots was held for the selection of five (5) students who will receive scholarships from the “Dionysios Angelopoulos” donation, in collaboration with the Hellenic State Scholarship Foundation (IKY).
Seven candidates, graduates of high schools in the Municipality of Pyrgos, who met the eligibility criteria set by the relevant IKY announcement, participated in the process. Since there were five scholarships available but seven eligible students, the choice was made following a public draw.
The draw was held in the presence of the Mayor of Pyrgos, the Priest of the Local Community of Koliri, the President of the Koliri Local Community, the representative of IKY, as well as the nephew of the donor, Mr. Dionysios Angelopoulos, who participated as a representative of the family.
The atmosphere was particularly moving, with those present underlining the importance of such initiatives that concretely support the youth of the region.
The five scholars selected by the public draw will receive financial support for their undergraduate studies. The duration of each scholarship covers the entire years of studies, according to the IKY regulations.
The “Dionysios Angelopoulos” scholarships are a special initiative in memory and honor of Dionysios Angelopoulos, a benefactor originally from Koliri, Ilia, with the aim of supporting the youth of the Municipality of Pyrgos in their efforts for academic progress.
