The student research team VROOM from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has been actively engaged in autonomous driving research since 2020, utilizing 1:10 scale model cars. The team operates under the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Polytechnic School and competes in the annual Bosch Future Mobility Challenge (BFMC).
In 2022, VROOM secured the 2nd place among 54 teams worldwide, while in the 2024 competition, they reached the top, winning 1st place out of 80 participating teams! The IKY scholarship for student teams played a crucial role in the team’s development, enabling them to acquire essential equipment, such as 3D printers and embedded computers, which allowed for the simulation of smart cities.
With a total of 32 members, VROOM continues to innovate, training young researchers and developing technologies applicable to real vehicles, striving for advancements in the exciting field of autonomous driving.
🛠️ “Support from institutions like IKY is invaluable, as it provides us with the resources to expand our capabilities and contribute to the research of next-generation technologies,” stated the team’s scientific mentor.
